Massage therapy may be used as a treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations. Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension. Some studies have found massage may also be helpful for but not limited to: Anxiety, Digestive disorders, Fibromyalgia, Headaches, Insomnia related to stress, Myofascial pain syndrome, Soft tissue strains or injuries, Sports injuries, and many more. Massage therapy often produces feelings of caring, comfort and connection, which may be beneficial for those experiencing chronic and acute depression as it releases large amounts of endorphins into the bloodstream. Endorphins also enhance the immune system, relieve pain, reduce stress, and retard the aging process.
